The thesis

Answers are assembled from a small, stable set of sources per buying question. The engines draw on the same pages again and again. For each focus product we identify those pages, then close the gap on the few that matter, in both directions at once.

Quantitative. Be present on the pages that shape the answer, where competitors are present and you are absent.

Qualitative. Match or beat the evidence the winning product shows on those same pages: specs, fit data, reviews, framing.

This improves the evidence available to the engines and raises the probability of inclusion and position. It does not guarantee a rank, and we never claim it does. The claim is proven per product by re-running the same questions against matched untouched comparison products, then following the chain through to sessions, orders and revenue.

Worked example

One product. Ten questions. A handful of sources that matter.

Capture

Every source considered

For that product's questions we record every page the engine drew on, and how often. A source that keeps appearing matters more than one that appears once.

Compare

Present where you are absent

We isolate the sources the winning products appear on and you do not. That intersection is the shortlist.

Specify

The text, not just the target

For each shortlisted source we show what needs to exist and at what quality, alongside the outreach or content action required to get it there.

Source taxonomy

Every source is classified by what you can actually do about it.

A Reddit thread and a buying guide are both citations. They need completely different responses, and one of them you should never touch directly.

Brand-owned

You can edit these directly

  • Product detail pages
  • Collection pages
  • Blog and guides
  • FAQ pages
  • Your own comparison pages
  • Machine-facing brand files
Earned, reachable

You can pitch these, you cannot edit them

  • Buying guides
  • Editorial reviews
  • Third-party comparisons
  • YouTube reviews
  • Press coverage
  • Directories
Earned through customers

Reachable through the relationship, not outreach

  • Trustpilot
  • Google Reviews
  • Sitejabber
  • On-site reviews
Community

Listen only. Never seed.

  • Reddit threads
  • Niche forums
  • Quora
  • Indexed community mentions
Competitor-owned

Out-build these, do not request them

  • Alternatives-to pages
  • Competitor posts naming you
Retailer and reference

Reachable through the relationship, or structural

  • Retailer listings
  • Merchant Center feeds
  • Retailer buying guides
  • Wikipedia
  • Certification bodies

The advice follows the source

What we tell you to do depends on where the gap is.

Source typeWhat Alethia recommends
Reddit or forum threadWhich threads carry weight, and what a legitimate presence looks like. We never seed.
Review platformThe review volume, recency and attribute coverage you need, and the programme to get it from real customers.
Competitor blogThe topic to out-build, at the depth and evidence level the engine is already rewarding.
Comparison siteThe contact, the angle, and the exact content that needs to exist for them to include you.
Buying guideThe format that shapes the most answers in practice. Outreach kit written and queued, ready to send.
Your own product pageThe specific attributes and evidence the winning product shows and yours does not.

Outcome memory

Suggested. Done. Moved.

Every recommendation becomes one record with three parts. It only advances when there is evidence.

1 · Suggested

Written before the outcome is knowable

The diagnosis, the change, what we expected it to do, and how confident we were. Recorded at approval time and never edited afterwards.

2 · Done

Advances only on detected evidence

We check whether the change actually shipped, and whether it shipped as suggested or modified. Nothing advances on self-report alone.

3 · Moved

Opens only after step two verifies

Affected questions re-run at 14 and 28 days, compared against untouched products, then joined to sessions, orders and revenue.

Rule one

Credit what was done

Outcomes are attributed to what actually shipped, not to what was recommended.

Rule two

Keep the failures

Records where nothing was implemented are kept. They measure adoption and act as a free check on drift.

Rule three

Only clean results teach

Verified, unconfounded results update what we believe. Everything else is stored and quarantined.
